Asebi (Japanese andromeda)

Asebi (Japanese andromeda)

18cm×17cm

This piece shows the blooming flowers of the asebi (Pieris japonica). In early spring, the asebi can been seen with its bell shaped flowers hanging down, and the flowers and leaves are shown hanging down in the vase, as well as appearing to dance upwards. Generally in nature, flowers will hang down due to gravity but on this piece, the flowers and leaves are painted going both up and down. The sight of the flowers on this round surface is almost like a small universe trapped in the vase, and it is quite magical. Additionally, when the light hits the glass, the glass shines and spreads colorful light to its surroundings. The colors with green as a base brightly color the room in a beautiful way.
